Squash Blossom Presents: Bobby Lee
Squash Blossom presents Americana artist Bobby Lee at CHIp on Saturday 11th November, with support from Ead Wood.
Doors open 6pm with a DJ set.
Bobby Lee trades in a wide screen brand of cosmic country-folk, full of space and pawn shop guitars. There are touches of JJ Cale’s analogue Americana, the swampy groove of Tony Joe White and Richard Thompson’s sinewy, modal guitar work. Amps hum in the warm afternoon sun, kids and dogs snooze on the grass and broken drum machines keep time with the universe…
Bobby released his debut album, Shakedown in Slabtown, in August 2020, on his own Natural Histories imprint, which Mojo Magazine described as “word of mouth sensation amongst discerning heads.” It was swiftly followed by Origin Myths in March 2021, released on the legendary Tompkins Square Records, becoming album of the week on Huey Morgan’s 6Music show and gaining support from BBC’s Late Junction, No Depression, The Guardian, NTS and WFMU. His collaboration, “Walking With Trees”, a collaboration with Mia Doi Todd, was released in September 2021 via Re:Warm. His third album Endless Skyways was released June 2023 via Tompkins Square.
“Heady instrumental vignettes of imagined scenes and moods….an erudite and electrifying ripper” **** Mojo Magazine
“a spiritual guide for the contemporary ultra-heady Americana jam cult, delivers a defining culmination of his signature cosmic farmstead choogle” New Commute

Monday Mending
Bring along your clothes or household items that need mending, teach and learn mending techniques, share skills and discover new ones. We are in the centre of town with some great fabric and hardware shops locally. We all want to know how to make do and mend more. CHIp is looking for more people to support and lead this session so please pop in or drop us a line at hello@chipcic.co.uk if you know someone who can help.
Saturday Film Club
Every Saturday afternoon we have a film club at CHIp, it's like a book club where we watch a film chosen by Ed and we come together every week to discuss it. The films are recommended each week, or posted on our social media accounts @chipcic We also have a general movie quiz to test your knowledge against the resident film buffs. And a new feature... FILM FIGHTS! A debating group where contestants must argue why their answer to a subjective movie question is the right answer. All for the grand prize or bragging rights. So come along and geek out with us.
